Getting Washboard Abs - Burn Stomach Flab at Turbo Speeds and Reveal Your Six Pack
Body fat piled on the stomach is often troublesome for a lot of people struggling with weight issues. And, sadly, abdomen fat is the hardest type of fat to get rid of. However, there is no need to throw in the towel. It's by no means impossible to get rid of belly body fat. Listed here are a few pointers to help you on your way with getting washboard abs.
Getting noticeable ab muscles will heavily depend on what types of food you consume. Should you adhere to these feeding suggestions, you can hope to start to see to abs come out.
You'll shed body fat by eating less. By spending more calories than you consume, eating healthy foods when you really need to, you're going to make your system use stored fat as energy. So how do you accomplish this? Begin by consuming 4-6 modest food servings every day.
By consuming smaller sized portions regularly, you can make your body regulate your metabolism and minimize your appetite making cravings for unhealthy food disappear. If you consume the recommended three square meals per day, unless you're genetically gifted, you'll minimize the chances of developing great looking abs. Every time you eat a "square" or big sized meal, your insulin spikes and stores extra sugars as body fat.
In summary, it is possible to prevent this by consuming at least five servings per day, rich in protein, low glycemic carbohydrates, and unprocessed fats.
Also, drinking water is very important for proper hydration and is extremely healthful for your body. Drink fresh water rather than soda. Sodas are full of sugars which just raise your insulin blood levels, storing more fat.
Finally, having simple but effective exercise equipment at home can really make a difference on your quest for getting washboard abs. Some people simply won't go to a gym for a million reasons. A good medicine ball and a yoga mat is all you need to perform quality abs exercises.

Your Yoga Practice - 7 Guidelines For The Ultimate Beneficial Yoga Experience
We often lead busy and chaotic lives, cutting corners and ignoring guidelines in an attempt to do something faster, better or more efficiently. In our attempt to fit everything into a busy day we often compromise or gloss over the necessary preparation for yoga that otherwise would enhance the benefits of our yoga practice.
In order to have the 'ultimate beneficial yoga experience,' you need to follow certain guidelines and pointers. If you can adapt your practice to take notice of these pointers and incorporate them into your busy day it will improve your yoga practice and you will experience the benefits of yoga more deeply.
When you start your yoga routine, try and RELAX. Let your mind go blank. Give it permission to release the worries of the day. Attempt to bring your focus into you. However, don't become frustrated if at first you can't still your racing mind. Often this is exceptionally hard, however with regular yoga meditation practice you will learn to achieve this state of relaxation faster and faster. A good way to start is with 5 to 10 minutes of Savasana (this is the corpse pose).
Now Savasana can be practiced at any time throughout your yoga session, you don't need to practice it at any particular time, but it is effective in calming the mind and allowing you to focus in on you and the start of your yoga practice. As it assists relaxation, savasana often concludes a yoga class with the teacher usually leading the class through a process of guided meditation.
Once you have your focus centered on you, then concentrate on your BREATHING.
It takes a short while to learn to properly breathe in the yogic fashion, however once achieved it will definitely make the practice of the asanas easier. Bear in mind that yogic breathing is different. To breathe properly in the yoga style, ALWAYS breathe in through the nose unless your instructor tells you otherwise and out through the mouth. Try and make the length of your in breath equal the length of your out breath. When you're ready, try to co-ordinate the progression of one yoga position to another with your breath. You wish to achieve a flowing motion between breath and movement.
When breathing is established, bring your AWARENESS in to you. By this I mean, focus on what is happening in your body and in your mind while seeking to perfect each yoga pose.
Try to observe or become aware of:-
1. How your body feels when it's in certain positions. If it feels well, then move into the particular yoga position a little further, if your body twinges, then listen to it and back off. You're not ready for that intensity;
2. What sensations are traveling through your body? Heat, fatigue or even a sense of nothingness. Each has meaning and your yoga practice can be modified to accommodate each sensation;
3. What your breath is doing throughout each yoga pose. Are you using your breath to assist you into the pose?
Most importantly, become aware of what thoughts and feelings course through your body while moving from one asana to the next and practice accepting those thoughts and feelings, without judgment. Just let those thoughts and feelings exist, observe them, without comment!
Now look at the STRUCTURE of your yoga practice. As it is important to balance the body and the mind, you need to structure your poses. Each forward bend should be followed by a backward bend. The poses you do on one side should be done on the other side of your body as well.
Now what is the best TIME to practice yoga? Many say generally in the mornings, just on arising as your mind is clear, free of thoughts and the air is still and quiet, there is no disturbance to interrupt your focus on you and your practice. The second best time to practice yoga is during the evening, those 2-3 hours around sunset. The chaos of the day has abated, and you can focus more clearly.
For many of us these times don't suit our lifestyles or commitments. So my belief is that yoga can actually be practiced at any time during the day. Whenever you are able to take a block of time for yourself. The only caveat to that is that you shouldn't practice yoga for at least two hours after a meal. So if early afternoon is a time that you can plan to have free, and be at liberty to focus on you without interruptions, then that is then the best time for you to practice yoga.
The last guideline for a beneficial yoga experience is to consider the PLACE or SPOT to conduct your yoga practice in. What you want is a well ventilated area, but on the other hand not one that is draughty. You need the ventilation as your body will generate heat during the practice of the poses and you will perspire. On the other hand you don't want a draught in the room to chill and stiffen your muscles.
Also, the spot you choose should be quiet and still. So that your mind doesn't wander it's a good idea to choose the same spot for your yoga practice each time. If you're familiar with the spot, you won't be focusing on unnecessary things which will leave your mind free to focus on your practice.
If you choose to practice outside in the open air, then try not to practice in a cold breeze or conversely under the hot sun. Use common sense and find a spot that is comfortable for you.
As a final thought, always have something between you and the ground. In that regard a MAT is essential. There are some great mats and meditation pillows to be had which will definitely enhance your experience.
If you follow these simple guidelines, you can be assured that you will benefit from your yoga practice as you will have removed any physical obstacle which may interfere with your ability to build on and further your yoga practice.

Living Yoga to Calm Your Mind
For decades, the public has been aware that Yoga brings about a tranquil state of mind. Yoga principles can be applied toward every aspect of improving daily life. Yoga is much more than pictures of people performing postures - it is a complete lifestyle.
If we look at the first limb of the Eight Limbed Path, described by Maharishi Patanjali, we observe Yama (restraints). These are the moral codes of Yoga. The first among these is "ahimsa," which means no-harming.
If you spent a lifetime of non-harming, you would literally be a saint. It is nearly impossible for most of us to go a day without harming something. Our words, actions, and thoughts can cause harm to others without much effort.
For some people, it only requires them to get behind the steering wheel of an automobile. Suddenly, they become someone else. This is much like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde phenomenon. Robert Louis Stevenson would be astonished to see his novel come to life on a daily basis, in the form of "road rage."
Yet, what can we do about it? Non-harming is very difficult, so should we give up on the principle? No, because there is a solution to avoid harming others. Instead of looking at ahimsa as a mountain, that cannot be climbed, let's look at how we can make positive changes in our daily lives.
Stop thinking about what you cannot do. Instead, think about what you can do. The problem with any moral code is that we always approach it from the, "thou shalt not" point of view. Let's look at it from an entirely different angle.
If we are thoughtful, patient, kind, forgiving, and compassionate in our thoughts and actions, we do not have the time to harm other beings. Consider this: If you are truly and sincerely able to forgive someone with all your heart, you have created so much positive energy that you cannot hate him or her.
The positive energy arises within you, but when there is too much, it overflows to those around you. The problem is when someone does not truly forgive or when someone forgives with conditions. Conditional forgiveness is for temporary peace, but it does not solve a conflict.
When you can forgive others completely, that is a step toward inner calm. This does not mean we allow people to "walk all over us." Forgiveness should resolve a conflict on both sides. A state of peace requires two sides to work in harmony.
Kindness is easy enough to add to your life. Try smiling at other people for a day. Watch how much they change as a result of your facial gestures. This is a classic example of how one person can change his or her surroundings by doing something relatively small. A smile is a gesture of kindness, happiness, or compassion toward someone else.
It is hard to think negative thoughts, or harm someone, while you are in a state of kindness, happiness, or compassion.

Yoga Therapy - Helping Yoga Students Who Have Ailments and Illnesses
Yoga is a confusing topic, because it is so wide in its reach. Outside of India, Yoga is often seen as a form of mind and body exercise. Yet, Yoga has deep therapeutic value, which is being observed in medical and scientific research studies.
The current opinion of medical professionals is that Yoga is a useful adjunct to medical and psychological treatment. This is why foundational Yoga Therapy courses and programs have begun to grow. Students often remark how much better they feel after practicing on a regular basis. This has led to wide spread research about the reasons why Yoga practitioners feel positive results.
After years of teaching Yoga, many instructors learn as much reliable information as possible, about teaching Yoga as therapy. This usually happens as a response to student needs. Yoga teachers learn how to modify a typical practice despite a student's pre-existing ailments and illnesses.
The next step after learning from a foundational Yoga Therapy course; would be to build on that platform of knowledge. This second phase of learning about Yoga as therapy should cover the needs of students or clients who have common health problems.
At this time, it seems as if there are far more ailments than there are Yoga therapists. If you consider, the different neurological disorders, different forms of cancer, stress related problems, and various heart diseases; each of these areas are very in-depth.
For example: Neurological disorders come in many different forms, such as - Parkinson's Disease, Stroke, Ataxia, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Alzheimer's disease, and Epilepsy. This short list has only scratched the surface as to the depth of how many varieties of neurological disorders there are.
Knowing this, any Yoga teacher who wants to expand his or her knowledge of Yoga therapy would be best to concentrate on the immediate needs of his or her students with pre-existing ailments and illnesses.

Physical And Mental Benefits Of Yoga
Yoga is known for being one of the most beneficial exercises in the world, and also incredibly fun and enjoyable as it can be practiced by people of all walk of life and ages. Maybe you have even tried yoga and discovered that it makes you a different and better person. But what are the types of health benefits can you expect to enjoy from doing yoga regularly?
It is very important to know all the benefits of yoga before you start practicing it, so that you will understand that much more just how respected and positive an exercise form it really is.
There are so many different benefits that are offered from the exercise of yoga, and while each different form of yoga does offer its own separate benefits and results, there are some fundamental benefits that you will receive, regardless of which specific form of yoga you practice.
Physical Benefits
Flexibility: Yoga is very effective in increasing flexibility, as it has positions that act upon the various joints of the body, even including those which are never really worked out with other exercises. Stretching your tight body in new ways will encourage it to become more flexible, bringing greater range of motion to muscles and joints. You can expect to gain flexibility in your hamstrings, back, shoulders, and hips over time
Strength: Many yoga poses need you to support the weight of your own body in new ways, including balancing on one leg (such as in Tree Pose) or supporting yourself with your arms (such as in Downward Facing Dog). Some exercises will need you to move slowly in and out of poses, which also increases strength.
Muscle tone: As a by-product of getting stronger, you can expect to see Your muscles get incredibly toned and fit. Especially muscles that have become flaccid or weak, are stimulated repeatedly in order to help you shed flab and flaccidity. Therefore, Yoga helps toned and shaped long, lean muscles.
Pain and Disease Prevention: Increased flexibility and strength can help prevent the causes of some types of back pain. Many people who experienced back pain spend a major portion of their time sitting in front computer or driving a car. That can cause muscle tightness and spinal compression, which you can address these with yoga. It works to massage all of the organs in your body, and it is said as being perhaps the only activity that is able to massage all the internal glands and organs of the body in a thorough way. Yoga also improves your alignment, both in and out of classrooms, which helps prevent many other types of pain.
It is able to act in a wholesome manner on the various body parts, and this stimulation results in keeping disease away and alerting the body earlier when there is something wrong.
Better Breathing: Most of us breathe very shallowly into the lungs and take breathing for granted and without much thought. Yoga breathing exercises, called Pranayama, direct the attention on the breath and teach us how to better use our lungs, which benefits the entire body. Certain types of breath can also help unblock the nasal passages and even calm the central nervous system, which has both physical and mental benefits.
Total body detoxification: By gently exercising and stretching the muscles and joints through yoga, your body's blood supply starts working better and quicker, and this aids in the flushing out of toxins as well as providing nourishment up to the last point.
Mental Benefits
Mental Calmness: Yoga asana practice is very physical. Concentrating so intently on what your body is doing, has the effect of calming the mind. Yoga also brings along meditation techniques, such as watching how you breathe and disengagement from your thoughts, which help calm the mind. It is also actually one of its main purposes.
Stress Reduction: Physical activity is good for destress, and this is particularly true of yoga. Because of the concentration need, your daily troubles, both large and small, seem to melt away during the time you are doing yoga. This provides a much-needed break from your stressors and helping put things into perspective. The emphasis yoga places on being in the moment, can also aid in relieving stress, as you learn not to dwell on past events or anticipate the future. You will leave a yoga class with lesser stressed than when you started.
Body Awareness: Practising yoga will give you an increased awareness of your own body. You are usually called upon to make small, subtle movements to improve your alignment. This will increase your level of comfort in your own body over time, thus leading to improved posture and greater self-confidence.

Yoga Styles and Differences
When you visit a yoga studio for the first time you may be overwhelmed by the number of yoga styles. There are more than 20 different types of practices.
The best way for you to narrow down what class to take is to discuss your goals with the director of the program or an instructor. Usually it is more important to make sure the class matches your level (e.g. beginner, intermediate, advanced) than to try and pick a particular method of practice.
In the United States many teachers have studied more than one style. You will find that the poses offered in one class overlap the poses taught in a class based in a different style. So go ahead and just dive in.
Still, it may be helpful for the more curious to know a little background about yoga styles before entering the studio. Here we discuss Bikram and Iyengar styles to give an idea of the how the many different practices may vary.
Bikram is a modern form that was developed in Los Angeles. It is practiced in a heated room with the temperature at approximately 105°F and the humidity set to 40%. Classes include approximately 25 postures and one to two breathing exercises. They run between an hour and an hour and a half.
Iyengar is a form of Hatha yoga, and focuses on alignments of the body. Iyengar uses props like blocks and belts for performing postures which are called asses. Practitioners strongly believe that encouraging the building of strength, flexibility, balance and stamina through meditation will unite the body, mind and spirit to promote overall well-being and health.
For those looking to escape the rush and stress of modern life Iyengar can be a welcome distraction. People with back pain or other chronic physical ailments often try this style of yoga to relieve stress. Since the practice is calming and postures can be adapted with props, it is also popular with pregnant women.
Beginning practitioners should note that these are brief overviews of just two styles. Articles, Internet sites, philosophies, doctrines, and books have been written regarding these. Imagine if you had to do all that research just to pick one! Now consider again that there are 20 plus styles.
Studios recommend you not be overwhelmed with the amount of information about different ways to practice . Instead, simply drop in on a class that fits your level. Studios typically feature dropping payment plans that allow you to pay for each class that you take as you go. That way you are not committed to any one style and won't get stuck working in a practice that you will not enjoy.
Beginners should try to go with a friend who can prep them on what to expect. Even if your friend has not tried that particular class you can both calm each others' nerves and have a casual debriefing on what you liked and didn't like about the style and then decide what to do next together.

Become a Certified Yoga Teacher - Inexpensive Options For Training
Have you been looking at different options to become certified to teach Yoga? Maybe, some of the prices have caused you to take a step back. One of the first ideas that come to mind is - how long it will take to pay off a six to ten thousand dollar loan. How many hours will you teach before "breaking even?"
The truth about education is that it requires some financing, unless you have ten thousand dollars lying around in an old shoe box. This means that most people borrow the money, and there is some interest to be paid. Over time, the interest could come close to doubling your tuition expenses.
For example, if you borrow ten thousand dollars at a fifteen percent interest rate, your interest cost, for one year, is approximately $1500.00. This is assuming that you can pay ten thousand dollars back in one year. Now, let's look at an inexpensive option for teacher training.
Have you considered a self-paced, online, correspondence, or distance learning course to become a Yoga teacher? The total cost is a fraction of an on-site intensive course. In fact, at much less than one thousand dollars, you may not have to borrow the tuition, or finance your education, for years to come.
You will not have to travel or take time off from work. You will not have to talk to your employer about why you need to take four weeks off for a $10,000 on-site Yoga teacher training intensive.
After all, would your employer really understand about taking time off and planning to become a Yoga instructor, during your vacation time? You know your employer best, so you can draw your own conclusions.
However, when considering an online, correspondence, or distance learning course, you could easily pay any borrowed money back by teaching five to twelve lessons, depending upon the rate you charge and the clientele you train. After you have recovered your educational investment, in a short time, you can decide which direction you want to go in.

Kapalbhati, The 10 Minute Yoga
Kapalbhati is one of the best yoga techniques that have been given to us by sages of India. It is a gift to humanity. The idea is simple, breathe in normally and exhale forcibly allowing the stomach to collapse. Do it for 10 minutes and feel the difference within days.
Kapalbhati is one of my favorite pranayamas. Kapalbhati is a subcategory of Pranayama that comes in the 3rd chapter of "Pantajali Yogdarshan". Amongst the several Pranayamic exercises and techniques; Kapalbhati is noteworthy as Kapalbhati is an exercise the practice of which imparts glow to the skull; a cleansing process which brightens the forehead. Kapalbhati is a pranayama technique which invigorates the entire brain and awakens the dormant centers that are responsible for subtle perception.
Although performing kapalbhati is basically quite straight forward, it is important that it is performed correctly in order to obtain the best results. It includes breathing slowly as usual and then forcing the breath outside. A major effect of kapalbhati is to increase air pressure in short bursts in the nasal pharynx and sinuses, which stimulates the forward part of the brain. However, if both nostrils are blocked, Kapalbhati cannot be done. The technique uses short and strong forceful exhalations while inhalation happens automatically.
Kapalbhati is theretofore a highly energizing abdominal breathing exercise as it causes the stomach to collapse as the exhalations are forced. Kapalbhati is a highly energizing abdominal breathing exercise. Kapalbhati could be done as fast as two strokes in a second. Kapalbhati is the one major yogic breathing technique capable of expelling toxins from the lungs. Though kapalbhati is usually done sitting down, it can be practiced standing up.
This pranayama technique actually invigorates the brain and cleanses the mind. I think Kapalbhati is the one that helps me most. Baba Ramdev is a great proponent of the Kapalbhati and suggests at least 10-15 minutes a day to get rewards.

Check Out YogaAccessories 1/4" Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat
YogaAccessories 1/4" Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat Review
I got this Mat for my fiance, who's been practicing Yoga for seven years, as a replacement for her old one. She uses it and hasn't complained. It's your standard mat, good quality, and services one's basic Yoga needs. I use a similar product.
YogaAccessories 1/4" Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat Feature
- Extra thick (6.2 mm, which is 1/4'')
- Weighs 3.6 lbs (vs 3.0 lbs offered by other suppliers)
- Textured, non-slip surface
- Limited lifetime warranty
- Extra long 74'' x 24'' wide
YogaAccessories 1/4" Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat Overview
At 6.2mm, the YogaAccessories Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat is a full 1/4'' thick, an extra long 74'', weighs almost 4 lbs, and is one of the thickest mats on the market. The mats come in a variety of colors that are strong and vivacious, but not overpowering in their brightness. This well-made exercise mat will add comfort to your yoga workouts. And because of its high quality, this deluxe mat will last longer than most standard foam mats. When shopping around for a yoga mat, note that what many other companies call a 1/4'' mat is actually 4.5 - 5.2 mm in thickness -- considerably thinner than this mat. These ''knock-off'' mats are shorter and weigh less, indicative of their inferior quality. A thicker non-slip mat is good for all types of yoga, especially for restorative poses. Reward yourself and your body with an Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat, and see why this is the most popular sticky mat found in yoga studios, schools, fitness clubs, and at home!
Looking for a unique yoga mat? YogaAccessories Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mats are also available in the Chakra Series or custom printed with your own logo or design -- in the same vibrant colors that make our yoga mats so appealing.

Mat had some smell to it at first, but after an airing out for about a week it was gone for the most part. Ordered burgundy, looks more like a tone of purple though.

Winsor Pilates - What Exactly Is It And Can I Do It At Home?
If you're much of a fitness buff, you're probably constantly alert for fun and challenging workout videos and products. Pilates is a phenomenon that is catching the attention of many because of the results experienced by certain Hollywood stars. Many community colleges, adult education and recreation centers, and gyms are now beginning to offer pilates classes.
Pilates is a non-aerobic system of floor exercises that strengthens and firms the body while it promotes flexibility and coordination. It was invented by health and fitness guru Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century and became especially popular among professional dancers.
Pilates works the abdominal and the back muscles, which are referred to as the "core" muscles of the body. The core plays an important role in nearly all fitness related activities, so a strong, but flexible core means less risk of injury and enhanced performance in other workouts. Unlike many forms of exercise however, pilates requires great concentration. Because proper form is so crucial to success, you're forced to pay special attention to how your body is moving. In this way, it is actually quite similar to yoga and there is a lot of crossover between people who practice both.
It is advantageous that pilates is great for all fitness levels, even for beginners. With the many videos that have been produced, you can even do pilates at home. When you first work out to winsor pilates tapes, you may be quite surprised at how challenging the seemingly-simple movements actually are. That is because pilates works muscle groups you probably aren't used to exercising. If you keep up your workouts however, you will adapt quickly. Don't assume that just because it is difficult the first time that it will be impossible. You will get much better with practice.
Working out to the winsor system can be a great way to get in shape. You get a 20 minute workout and the longer, more challenging 50 minute accelerated body scultping video. So, once you're proficient in the basic moves, you have an additional video to keep you challenged. The instruction is clear and friendly, and modified moves are demonstrated for those who have a weak back or neck.
It is convenient that the mari winsor pilates workout tapes do not require extra equipment. The exercises can be performed comfortably on a carpeted floor. If you have hard floors, you will want to get a mat.
One drawback to these tapes is that once you know how to do the exercises, the instruction can seem too wordy. You get a better workout if you don't take breaks in between the exercises, but Mari frequently pauses the workout to explain how to do the next move. One solution is to hit fast forward; another, is to write down the sequence of moves and do them without the video once you're familiar with the exercises and comfortably know what to do.
The bottom line is, the winsor pilates videos are effective, especially when combined with a healthy diet and aerobic exercise.

The fumes from this thing can't be good for you - Norm - FARMINGTON, UT, US
I ordered two of these and before I even opened the box I could detect an odor. After removing them from the box the odor was so bad I had to remove them from the house. They've been airing outside for two days now and still smell really bad. They would probably be great mats if they didn't smell so bad. We haven't used them yet and I don't think we're going to be able to get past the smell. These are headed back to Amazon for a refund.
These particular mats were labeled "Made in China". It would be interesting to know if the mats that some people indicated did not have a smell were made somewhere else. I've noticed a lot of products from China that have this same nauseating smell. Don't know why - just saying. It would be nice if Amazon started listing the country of origin on the products they sell.
22 DAYS - Sskeeter -
22 days later and i still haven't gotten the harbinger mat. the mat is probly pretty good i wouldnt know since the company never shipped it to me. they emailed me the past week saying they will ship it blah blah blah got another one today saying next week told them to cancel it. don't buy from company they obviously aren't professionals.
Comfortable Mat - Guido Struben -
Some of the other reviews mention a bad smell coming from their mat but the one I got doesn't have this problem.
The size is just right and the cushioning is very comfortable.
It's easy to roll up and store.
This thing stinks - eb of Frisco -
From the time I opened the box, the chemical/rubbery stench from the mat was unbearable. I left it to air overnight and the whole room smelled of it, and every time I touched it the smell got on my hands and clothes and made my eyes water. So, I boxed it up and sent it back. I don't know if the smell ever would have subsided but didn't want to wait months/years to find out.
